General Notes: Husband - Leon Chappotin Magaw


He was educated in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and at a private school, at Buffalo, New York. When twenty-two years of age he embarked in the grocery trade, and continued in the same for thirty years, fifteen years of which as a wholesale dealer. In the year 1880 he started a cheese factory, and eventually retired from the grocery trade, owning and operating fourteen cheese factories. He was the most extensive cheese manufacturer in Pennsylvania; he sold his products throughout the United States and Mexico.
