General Notes: Husband - James Brown Tenan

He was born in Smith township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he received a common-school education.
In politics he was an active Democrat, and with the exception of three years spent at Athens, Ohio, was a resident of Burgettstown thereafter. He was a member and earnest supporter of the United Presbyterian Church at Burgettstown, Mrs. Tenan being a member of the M. E. Church. On the farm in Smith township, which was situated two miles from Burgettstown, were two oil wells, with fair prospects for others.
