General Notes: Husband - James Elder Lose

He attended the district school near his early home, obtaining a good practical education. At the age of twenty-three years he went west, prospecting through Iowa and Kansas. Upon his return to Burrell township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, he bought the Lincoln Taylor farm of 130 acres, upon which he erected a large barn and house, and there he lived and worked. The farm was situated on Blacklick creek. Besides attending to his farm he dealt considerably in real estate, and he cleared considerable land-most all his farm. He took part in various local activities, being a member of Hopewell M. E. Church, which he served as trustee, steward and superintendent of the Sunday school, all his life taking a strong interest in church work. He served his fellow citizens as a member of the board of school directors and supervisor. In political opinion he was a Progressive Republican.
