He and his wife came to America with his parents in 1726, bringing their two small children, Archibald and Catherine, with them. He took out warrants for land in 1741, and in 1742 located in Tyrone Township, York (later Adams) County, Pennsylvania. He was in York County until 1800, when the County of Adams was formed.
