He was a native of Germany who came to America when a young man. He lived for a time in what is now Mount Pleasant, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, but died in the prime of manhood.

After her second marriage, she resided near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She was a devoted Christian, a member of the M. E. Church.
