General Notes: Husband - Hugh C. Platt


His education was received in the schools of Madison and Toby townships, Clarion Coun­ty, Pennsylvania. At the age of twenty-three years he set out for himself, working on a farm and in the oilfields. In 1861 he enlisted in the Union army and served three months. In 1863 he enlisted again in Company I, Fifty-seventh Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. At the first battle of Bull Run he was wound­ed in the left leg. After the war he worked on a farm in Porter township, Clarion County. He was later living retired at Rimersburg, in that county. In politics he was Independent. His religion was that of the Reformed church.
