General Notes: Husband - John N. Mowry

He was born in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and there passed his childhood and youth. He bought from his grandfather, Mr. Woodford, the latter's farm, a place consisting of about fifty acres, and from time to time kept adding to this until he came to own a property of some one hundred and thirty-four acres. The property was a very valuable one, as under it ran the great Pittsburgh vein of coal. He was a member of the Republican party, and he and his family were members of the Methodist Episcopal church.
