General Notes: Husband - Harry DeWitt Hershey

His education was acquired in the Indiana Normal school, of which institution he was a graduate. When he left school, at the age of nineteen years, he started out as a civil engineer, in which business he was engaged for about a year. He then went with the Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Company, and retained his connection with that firm one year, at the end of which time he went to Irwin, Pennsylvania, to accept a position as superintendent of the Light & Power Company. This position he filled for seven years. A better opportunity then presented itself in the contracting business in Pittsburgh, and Mr. Hershey went there and engaged in that occupation for three years, meeting with considerable success. In 1904 he sold out his interest in the contracting business, and went to Latrobe, Pennsylvania, where he was appointed superintendent of the Latrobe Electric Light and Electral Railroad Company.
