General Notes: Husband - Jonas Gongaware


He was born on the Gongaware farm, near Irwin, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and was a blacksmith by trade. His chief source of in-come for many years was from his work for the old pike teamsters. He purchased two farms, acquired considerable other property. He served for many years as an officer of the Evangelical Lutheran church and was a democrat of the old school.
He and his wife had a family of ten children, all married and settled in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; three were deceased before 1890.
