General Notes: Husband - Kenneth Russell


He attended the public and high schools of Marienville, Pennsylvania. After moving to Butler in 1906 he was employed as a clerk in the Ideal Clothing Parlors, where he remained for five years. In 1911 he accepted a position as traveling salesman for the Lutz & Schramm Company of Pittsburgh, manufacturers of pickles and preserves. In 1913 he went with the Pittsburgh Food Products Company. In 1920 he was with the Fitch Company of Youngstown, Ohio. He resigned that position in 1921 to accept the position as manager of the Butler Wholesale Grocery Company. In 1923 he established his own business: He manufactured pure food flavoring extracts which were sold in quantities from a half ounce bottle to a fifty gallon barrel. He manufactured fifty flavors of "Ken-Sell" extracts. These products were sold over the entire country. They also manufactured cocoa, mustard and table syrup. The plant was the only one of its kind in Butler, and was located at 215 South Cliff Street.
He was a Democrat and a member of the Second Presbyterian Church. Fraternally he was affiliated with Butler Lodge F. and A. M., No. 272; New Castle Consistory, thirty-second degree; past worthy patron Order Eastern Star; and past counsellor of the United Commercial Travelers.
