He married and first settled in Canton township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, where he carried on farming for several years, and in 1867 moved to Washington borough, there living in retirement. He was a Republican in politics, and in religion a member of the Associate Reformed Church, which afterward became the U. P. Society.
