General Notes: Husband - William L. Hudson

He passed his childhood and early life in Hempfield and Salem townships, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. He attended the public schools of these townships and continued his studies up to the age of eighteen years. In the meantime he worked on a farm in that region, but on April 16, 1883, he secured a position with the Pennsylvania Railroad, and thus begun an association which continued for many years. On October 19, 1885, Mr. Hudson was advanced to the position of locomotive fireman and made his home at Pittsburgh for a time. On October 26, 1889, he became an engineer and occupied that position for ten years on the division between Pittsburgh and Altoona. On February 1, 1900, he was appointed assistant road foreman of engines, with headquarters at Derry, Pennsylvania, and after three years he was promoted to road foreman of engines on the Philadelphia terminal division with headquarters at Philadelphia. His appointment to this position occurred March 1, 1903, and he continued to hold it until December 1, 1908, when he was appointed road foreman of engines of the Pittsburgh division, with headquarters at Pittsburgh. Mr. Hudson made his home in Wilkinsburg, and was prominently identified with the affairs of the community. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Wilkinsburg, and president of the board of trustees thereof. In politics he was a Republican, and although he was very active in the interests of his party, he consistently refused to accept public office of any kind. He was a member of the Masonic order, and was affiliated with William L. Elkins Lodge, No. 646, Free and Accepted Masons, of Philadelphia. He was also a member of the Pittsburgh Railway Club; which was composed of officers of the railway, and of the Wilkinsburg Automobile Club.
