General Notes: Husband - Thomas C. Gilson

He was reared in the country and received a good education at the common schools. At the time of the Civil war, he became a member of Company D, Nineteenth Ohio Regiment, enlisting under President Lincoln's call for troops. He enlisted at Youngstown, Ohio, for three months' service in 1861. Again in 1862, he enlisted for six months and in September, 1863, he enlisted in Company D, of the Two Hundred and Eleventh Pennsylvania Regiment, and served until the war had ended. Just before the war closed he was commissioned as a captain. After the close of the war he went to farming and was successfully so engaged thereafter. He later resided in Grove City about three years.
