General Notes: Husband - Hugh Gilmore

He attended the public schools and assisted in the work on the farm, as he was the eldest son. He later came into possession of the home place with his brother, William. He erected a house in 1876 and made many other important improvements, making it one of the best kept farms in the locality. In November, 1906, oil was struck on the place and he had four good producing wells. In politics, he was a Democrat and was frequently called upon to serve the community in local offices. Religiously, the family was Presbyterian, and attended the church at Clintonville. [HBC 1909, 1360]
