He and his wife came to Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, in 1801.

He was born in Ire­land, and was quite young when he came to America. He was one of the first settlers at Kittanning, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, having come to the region about the time this place was laid out. He continued to live there until his death, following his trade, that of car­penter, during the greater part of his resi­dence at Kittanning.
