General Notes: Husband - Jacob Knappenberger

He was educated in the common schools of the township, passing his early years on his father's farm. On reaching maturity he became a farmer on his own account, cultivating a portion of the homestead, and acquiring other land, until he had three hundred and eighty acres under cultivation, besides other property. At one time he became interested in oil, but later confined himself to his agricultural interests, which proved so successful. In politics he was a Democrat, and served as supervisor of roads and a school director; he was also a member of the Order of Maccabees. Like the rest of his family for generations he was a member of the Reformed church, in which he was an elder, deacon and trustee for twenty or thirty years, and of which his wife also was a consistent member.
