General Notes: Wife - Nancy Sloan

She and her brother John, when children, were stolen by the Indians while working in a corn-field in what was then South Bend township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, about the year 1789. They were retained by the Indians for several years and finally they were exchanged at Sandusky, Ohio. They were returned home about the year 1793. The trail of the Indians was followed by the settlers as far at least, as the Allegheny river which they crossed a short distance above Kittanning.
