He located in Clinton township, Venango County, PA, in 1796. He bore the title of major and had filled that rank in the Continental army. His residence immediately prior to coming to Venango county, was Westmoreland county. [HVC 1890, 263]

An early settler in Clinton Township who was of French ancestry, the family first locating in Maryland after coming from France, and removing thence to Venango County. [CAB, 804]

He and his wife were the parents of eight children, three sons and five daughters.
