He and his wife, natives of Germany, immigrated to America in 1832 and settled in Venango County, Pennsylvania, where they reared their family.

He imigrated to America in 1843, and located in Cherrytree township, Venango County, Pennsylvania. He was married in 1832, and brought his wife and four children to this country with him. The family consisted of ten children. [HVC 1879, 569]
