He was engaged in business in Waynesboro, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, but subsequently moved to Georgetown, D. C., became a magistrate of that place, and devoted much time to advancing the interests of Masonry and Odd Fellowship, of which latter order he was one of the pioneers in America.
