Civil War: he enlisted in Company E, Seventy-eighth Pennsylvania Volunteers, and served during the entire war under Generals Sherman and Rosecrans.
On his return from the war he settled in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, as proprietor of the Monterey House, and general store.
