He was born and reared at the old family homestead at Selinsgrove, Snyder County, Pennsylvania. Early in married life he and his wife removed to Union County and settled on a farm, where they passed their remaining years.

He was born in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, but, after passing many years in agricultural pursuits in Union County, he retired to Lewisburg to spend his last days.
