He was graduated at Jefferson College, in 1832, and studied theology at Princeton and Allegheny. He was ordained by the Lake Presbytery, May 23, 1837, and was pastor of Hermon's Creek, 1835-55, and of the Presbyterian congregation at Clearfield, Pennsylvania, 1857-64.
