General Notes: Husband - Thomas Gallagher


He was born in County Donegal, Ireland. [HWC 1906 II, 10][ONW, 215]
He was a native of County Down, Ireland. [HWC 1906 III, 520]

They came to America from Ireland in 1810, landing in Baltimore, May 10, of that year and after visiting the Pattersons and other relatives of that section, they came over the mountains in "Mountain Wagons" to Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, first settling in Washington township, but later in Unity. In Ireland, Mr. Gallagher was an under-landlord and the proprietor of an inn. He was captain of volunteers under the king in his native country. [HWC 1906 II, 10]

In May, 1810, he landed in Baltimore, Maryland, and shortly afterward settled in Unity township, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, where he purchased a farm, the original owner of which was William Peoples. In his native land Mr. Gallagher was a member of the Episcopal church, but after locating in Pennsylvania he joined the Presbyterian church. [HWC 1906 III, 520]
