Cross Creek Twp; Hanover Twp, Washington Co, PA

He was born in Maryland, and was a young child when his parents came to Washington County, Pennsylvania. He was reared on the home farm, and obtained his education in the subscription schools, afterward learning the carpenter's trade, and erecting many dwellings and barns. He married and the young couple first located on a farm in the eastern part of Hanover township, and in 1850 moved to the old home place.
