He resided where he was born, on a farm of 102 acres, in North Beaver Township, Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, which was situated on the lower Mt. Jackson-Petersburg road, two miles southwest of the former place. He was educated in the public schools of North Beaver Township and after he reached the age of responsibility, engaged in farming. He added dairying to his farm industries.
