Allen Twp, Washington Co, PA
He attended the subscription schools of Fallow­field township, Washington County, PA. After leaving school he taught several terms, then devoted his time to teaming. After mar­riage he located on a farm and in 1839 bought and moved onto the seventy acres of land where he resided many years. He and his wife were members of the Disciple Church, in which he was an elder. Politically he was originally a Whig, and after its organization was a member of the Republican party.
