General Notes: Husband - John Fry

He served three years in the Civil War, belonging to Co. C, 11th reg., Pa. Vols., and took part in the battles of Second Bull Run, Antietam, Gettysburg and in various minor engagements.

He was educated in the common schools and always followed farming. He owned a well-improved farm of eighty-five acres and raised considerable stock.
He enlisted September 3, 1861, in Co. C., 11th reg., Pa. Vols., and served three years. He participated in several hard battles. At second Bull Run he was knocked down by a spent ball, at Antietam he was wounded in the hand and at Gettysburg he was shot in the leg and captured and held as a prisoner for a few days by the Confederates.
In politics Mr. Fry was a republican, and was always active in his support of that party. About 1890 he received the appointment of census enumerator of Mt. Pleasant township. He was a member and trustee of St. Paul's Reformed church.
