General Notes: Husband - Achilles McIntosh McAlevy

He began work as a clerk at Franklin, PA, in his father's employ, continuing thus for two and a half years, and was his successor in the mercantile business at Seneca, where he was located for four years. Removing to Oil City, he was with H. H. Fair for a period of thirteen years in his store, from 1871 to April 1, 1884, when he entered the mill, where he had assisted considerably in the meantime, getting a valuable knowledge of the business. He operated it for Mr. Fair, in whose employ he remained for twenty-six years altogether, leaving the mill in 1898, when he engaged in merchandising on his own account. He carried this business on successfully for seventeen years, in the location at No. 709 East Second street, where he became well and favorably known, giving it up because of failing health. He then lived retired. [CAB, 665]
