---

He was a native of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, and settled in Slippery Rock township, Butler County, in 1804, where he purchased 125 acres of land, erected a cabin and began life in the forests. After residing in Slippery Rock township for many years, he purchased a small place at Coaltown, Cherry township, where he died.
