General Notes: Husband - Samuel Taggart


He was born on the home place in Canton township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and received his early education in the township schools. He married and settled in Chartiers township, on 160 acres of land, which contained a good gas well. He put down another well after purchasing the farm, besides making various other improvements.
He was an active worker in the Republican party, and held various offices, such as member of the school board and supervisor.
