In 1842, he and his brother came to Venango County, Pennsylvania, and located in Oakland township. He first carried on his business, tailoring, at Col. Henry Marks, for eighteen months, then removed to Dempseytown, and continued tailoring there for some time. Finally he moved to some land, one mile south of Dempseytown, and commenced to clear up the land and erect buildings.
