General Notes: Husband - Samuel F. Frampton

He was born in 1813 in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. [CBRCP-CCJC, 1382]

He was a prominent farmer in Clarion County where he owned about twelve hundred acres of land.

He was engaged largely in farming, and amassed a considerable fortune. He was an active and enterprising citizen of Clarion County, and left his impress upon the community. He was one of the founders of the First National Bank, of Clarion, also of Reid Institute.

When but an infant he made the journey, in 1811, with the family, to their pioneer home in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, and grew to manhood on the farm near Reidsburg, now in Clarion County. His early married life was spent on his farm in Toby township, then he moved to Clarion township, where he became very prosperous, owning six farms. He was with the early operators in the Walnut Bend oil excitement, and a year later sold out for ten thousand dollars.
He was one of the organizers and charter members of the First National Bank of Clarion, established in February, 1865, and devoted his oil profits to his share of the capital stock. Besides his agricultural, oil and financial interests he was largely interested in lumber, and also built and started in operation the first foundry in Clarion, retaining his interest several years. He built the Frampton Theatre in Clarion, erected many blocks and residences, owning a great deal of real estate in the town. He was most generous in his prosperity, assisted liberally in building churches and school houses, and gave money freely where either public or private need was manifested. He was a strong Democrat, influential in the party, but would never accept public office. He was a member of the Baptist church from childhood, and a deacon all his adult years.
