He immigrated when a young man from Adams County, PA, to Westmoreland County. He settled in Hempfield township, near New Stanton, where he died at the age of fifty-eight years. He was a drover, purchasing cattle and sheep in Westmoreland and adjoining counties, and selling them in the eastern markets and surroundings.
