General Notes: Husband - Richard Mears

Mercer Co, PA

He was educated in the common schools and was brought up on the farm. He began for himself in 1840, by working on the canal along the Shenango one summer, then two years for Thomas Wright on his farm. After marriage, they lived in a log cabin, building a small frame house the following summer, and subsequently erected another residence. He was identified with the township offices, having filled the offices of assessor, treasurer, supervisor and school director.
