He was a resident of Baltimore, Maryland, and thence moved to Apollo, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania, where he died. He was by occupation a contractor and was at one time engaged on the Old Chesapeake canal.
He and his wife had two sons and three daughters.

He was a soldier in the War of 1812.
