Norma Claire Flinchbaugh Is Wed To David L. Schoch
The marriage of Mies Norma Claire Flinchbaugh and David Lee Schoch took place Saturday evening in Second Presbyterian Church with Dr. Robert B. Shane officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. god Mrs. Paul W. Flinchbaugh of 206 W. First St. The bridegroom is the son of G. R. Schoch of 1151/2 Washington Ave.
The candle-light ceremony was performed before a background of palms, fernery and large baskets of white chrysanthemums and mums with seven-branch candelabra on either side of the altar.
Mrs. Roy Chenault provided the traditional wedding March and other selections for the ceremony. She played "Pianus Angelicus," "Bridegroom to Our Soul," "The King of Love My Shepherd Is," "Arioso," "Blest Be the Tie that Binds" and "March of the Priests."
Edward Rogers, vocalist, sang "God of Our Life," "O Perfect Love" by Burleigh and "Wedding Prayer" by Dunlap.
The bride wore a floor-length gown of ivory brocade fashioned with a portrait V-neckline, fitted bodice and pointed elbow-length sleeves. Her bouffant skirt featured unpressed pleats at the sides which extended into a full chapel train.
Her bouffant ivory veil of imported illusion was secured to a brocade petal rose headpiece adorned with pearls. Her bouquet was of white chrysanthemums and mums and was backed with lemon leaves.
For her jewelry, the bride wore a diamond and pearl heirloom pendant inherited from her paternal grandmother and her maternal grandmother's engagement ring. She wore pearl earrings belonging to her mother and carried out the usual wedding traditions.
The bride's maid of honor, Miss Sandra McLaughlin of Pittsburgh, wore a rust velveteen street-length dress featuring a scoop neckline and bell shaped skirt accented with satin bow trim. Her velveten pill box hat and her shoes matched the dress. She carried a colonial bouquet of bronze mums and lemon leaves.
Miss Martha Schoch, Mrs. Robert Flinchbaugh of Canal-Winchester, Ohio, Miss Beth Biery of West Hartford, Conn. and Mrs. Robert Kinch served as bridesmaids and bridesmatrons.
They wore emerald green velveteen dresses fashioned in the same style as the dress worn by the maid of honor. Their accessories matched their dresses and they carried colonial bouquets of yellow mums backed with lemon leaves.
The flower girl, Susan Young of Youngsville, wore a frock in the same color and material as the maid of honor's dress and wore matching shoes and hat. She carried a miniature colonial bouquet of bronze mums.
Assisting the bridegroom as best man was Frank Denig of New York City. Robert Moore of Philadelphia, John Muha of Pittsburgh, Robert Kinch and Boyd Enos served as ushers.
Ricky Young of Youngsville and John Muha Jr. of Pittsburgh were ring bearers. Serving as acolytes were Ronald and Charles Young of Youngsville, cousins of the bride.
Mrs. Flinchbaugh wore an emerald green faille sheath dress with matching accessories and a bronze mum corsage for her daughter's wedding.
A reception was held in the church parlors after the wedding ceremony. The four-tier cake was topped with wedding bells which were used on the 50th anniversary of the bride's maternal grandparents. The cake and punch bowl were surrounded by lemon leaves and white mums.
The tea table was centered with an arrangement of white chrysanthemums and mums interspersed with autumn leaves and flanked by silver candle holders with white tapers.
Aides at the reception were Mrs. Louis Bright of Pittsburgh, Miss Diane Bellen, Mrs. David Mead, Mrs. E. E. Bellen, Mrs. Charles Perry and the bride's aunts, Mrs. James Flinchbaugh, Mrs. D. B. Stewart, Miss Treva McKinney, Mrs. Rex Young and Mrs. Clarence Seekings.
Out-of-town guests attended the wedding from Sharon, Youngsville, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Meadville, Franklin, Buffalo, N. Y., New York City, Columbus, Ohio, and Connecticut.
The bride wore a magneta three-piece wool suit with a black hat and accessories and the white pompon corsage from her bridal bouquet for the couple's wedding trip to Seattle, Wash., where they will live at 4700-35 Ave. So., Seattle 8.
The former Miss Flinchbaugh is a graduate of Oil City High School and has a B. A. degree in theatre from Allegheny College. She taught at South Side Junior High School and has been studying acting at Pittsburgh Playhouse during the past year.
Mr. Schoch graduated from Oil City High School and received a degree in aeronautical engineering from Princeton University. He is employed in aero-dynamics at Boeing Airplane Co. in Seattle.
