General Notes: Husband - Joel Elmer Summerville


For three years after his marriage he rented and operated the home farm, and then worked in the oil fields for six years, after which he purchased the "Bar House" in Lawsonham, Clarion County, Pennsylvania, paying $1,000 for the same. He successfully conducted that hotel until March, 1897, when he purchased the "City Hotel," at Rimersburg from G. W. Stewart. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Society, Lodge No. 485, of Rimersburg, and was an active and prominent worker in the ranks of the Democratic party.
