General Notes: Husband - Reuben Allerton


He received an excellent education; studied medicine and became a noted physician and surgeon, beginning his practice about 1777. He entered the colonial army as surgeon of Colonel Hopkins' regiment in 1777. The instruments which he used were still in the possession of the family into the twentieth century.
