He received his education in the public schools and at the Sewickley academy, after which he began farming, which he always followed, owning several tracts of good, well-improved land. He was a democrat and held the office of justice of the peace in his native township. He also served as school director. Mr. Fisher together with wife and family belonged to the Reformed church, in which he was an elder. His library was well filled with standard works on history, biography, art, etc., and he took much more than ordinary interest in reading and general literature.
