He graduated from Washington and Jefferson College in 1875 and from the Union Theological Seminary, New York City, in 1882. He organized two Presbyteries under the instruction of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, U. S. A. and also helped to organize seven Presbyterian Churches in Montana.
