Catherine A. Finch Weds Jaime Velez
Catherine Arlene Finch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Finch of 78 Rocky Grove Ave., became the bride of Jaime Velez who is sta­tioned in Iwacuni, Japan. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Diomedes Velez of 10931 Sec­ond Court N.W., Miami, Fla.
The double-ring service took place at six o'clock on July 16 in the Grace United Methodist Church, Rocky Grove. The Rev. Lloyd Sturtz officiated at the serv­ice before an altar graced with arrangements of green and white flowers. Tapes provided the music.
The bride, dressed in her Marine uniform, was presented in mariage by her father. She carried a red long-stemmed rose and gypso­phila accented with a cascade of ribbon. The floral arrangement was fashioned by Mrs. Fred Finch, aunt of the bride.
The bridegroom was also attired in his Marine uniform.
Miss Sue Piersimoni was the honor attendant. She wore a grey and blue print gown and carried a long-stemmed rose.
Other attendants were the bride's sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Wilkins of Mercer and Mrs. Peggy Stroupe. They wore blue and red gowns, respectively, and each carried a red long-stemmed rose.
Francis Finch accompanied Mr. Velez as best man. Ushers were Stanley Wilkins of Mercer and Steven Stroupe.
The mother of the bride wore a pale orange floral suit and a corsage of red flowers.
A reception, attended by 76 guests, was held in the church social rooms. A green and white theme highlighted the decorations which included flowers and the wedding cake.
Aides were Cindy Porter, Karen Phillips, Dara Sterling and Sue Lerch. Mrs. Vance Lerch cut the cake.
Among the guests were those attending from Mercer.
For a wedding trip, the new­lyweds traveled to Hialeah, Fla. where they visited with the bride­groom's parents, before returning to Japan where they are stationed.
The bride was graduated from Rocky Grove High School in 1979 and received schooling in Memphis, Tenn. and Lowry Air Force Base. She is a corporal in the Marine Corps serving as an electronic tech­nician in Japan for the past year. Her husband, also a corporal in the Marines, was graduated from Hi­aleah High School in 1978 and has received training in motor mechan­ics.
