General Notes: Husband - Samuel P. Allen

He was yet a boy when his parents moved to Beaver county, Pennsylvania, where he resided until 1830, obtaining his education in the public schools. In the latter year he settled on his farm in Pine Grove township, Warren county, where he engaged in lumbering the active years of his life.

He followed the Ohio River, rafting lumber for over forty years, but in later years turned his attention to farming, at which he was very successful, having a fine farm of 247 acres of land. He was a prominent figure in town politics, frequently holding town offices. Before the Civil War he was a staunch Democrat, but after that time voted with the Republican party. He was an active member of the M. E. Church. [HWC 1887, BP 4]
