Slippery Rock Twp, Lawrence Co, PA

He attended the public schools of his home district and engaged in farming on the home place until 1896, in which year he purchased a farm from the Alexander heirs. He met with unusual success as a general farmer and truck gardener.
Politically, he was an active Republican, but never aspired to nor cared for public office. Religiously, he was a member of the Lutheran Church.
