General Notes: Husband - Daniel Mercer


He began life as a school teacher, then became a clerk, and in 1849 became engaged in business as a general merchant. He made several business changes, and in 1884 became engaged in the furniture business, and was doing business under the firm name of Cribbs & Mercer.
Mr. Mercer was county commissioner in Clarion County for six years, was treasurer of Clarion County for two years, justice of the peace for ten years, and was one of the councilmen of the borough of New Bethlehem.

He had eight children with his first wife; four of whom were still living in 1887.
