General Notes: Husband - Capt. William Fancher


He came to northwest Pennsylvania from New York State when the canal was built, to take charge of the lock at Utica, Venango County, PA. As the canal was abandoned soon afterward he had to seek other occupation, and he turned to his trade, shoemaking, which he continued to follow throughout his active years at Utica, dying there at the advanced age of ninety-three.
