He and his wife were early settlers of Cambridge Township, Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
In 1854 he settled on his own farm, which he cleared himself. He and his wife were adherents of the Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Cambridge Grange. In politics he was a Republican.
