General Notes: Husband - Dietrich Fahnestock

He was born in Halten in the district of Hagen, Province of Westphalia, Prussia, and emigrated to America in 1726. He first settled on the Raritan, New Jersey, but a few years later we find him at Ephrata, in what is now Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He subsequently took up a tract of three hundred and twenty-nine acres of land which was surveyed to him October 12, 1735. [CBEDC, 99]

"It was not for the comforts of this life," wrote Diedrick Fahnestock, "but in the hope of finding people of more congenial religious faith," that induced him to emigrate to Pennsylvania, and he found them at Ephrata.
