General Notes: Husband - Hon. Solomon Gorgas


He was a watch and clock-maker.
In 1804, he removed to Cumberland County, Pennsylvania, locating in Lower Allen Township, and kept the first tavern and store in that section of the country. He was a man of sound judgment, and was self-educated. In 1821-22 he served as a member of the Legislature from Cumberland County, being a Democrat in politics. Both he and his wife were identified with the German Seventh-day Baptist Church.
