General Notes: Husband - Joseph Hommer

He learned the shoemaker’s trade in Maryland, and came to West Salem Township, Mercer County, Pennsylvania, about two years after the rest of the family. He was a Whig, and then a Republican in politics, and was at Erie during the War of 1812. He and his wife were originally Lutherans, but afterward joined the Methodist Episcopal Church.
